Offer vegetarian and vegan options
Less meat is more sustainable! The amount of water and energy used in the production of different meats are incredibly high. The issues of animal welfare in industrialized meat production and the high emission of different greenhouse gases are something we should take seriously and prevent by consuming less of these products. To offer more vegetarian and vegan dishes on your menu is a great way of doing just that. Or what about insects? (Dan Hostels in Denmark are offering bugs for breakfast. Read more about it here.)
We visited Hostel Catavento in Chapada dos Veadeiros where they serve home made cheese bread (a Brazilian delicacy) and fresh fruits from their own garden when in season.
