What to do when you have a lot of furniture, and old stuff stored away in your basement and that you don’t want to throw away? Well, why not sell them for a reasonable price and get the community to buy and also sell their things that are stored! You can even raise some funds by doing so. That was the objective of the Montana Garage sale.
The Garage sale happend last weekend on the 20th. We were lucky enough no to have rain that day, even though it was very cold. Montana had so much stuff to sell, in very good condition and for a very very cheap price! Here are a few examples of what was on sale:
- Wine glasses
- Bed linen
Even though nobody else came to sell their stuff, we still consider the event a success because there were many that came to buy, and of course we were happy to sell.
For those hostels that want to do the same, organizing a garage sale is really easy. Set a date, advertise around the local community, separate the things that you are going to sell a few days before and boom, you are ready to sell. To lure more people in you can also sell some kind of food or beverages. In our case we had coffee, tea and cake at a very cheap price, so people would come after a hike up Ulriken to warm up with some coffee and also buy something from Montana.
Because we felt that this was the beggining of something good, we have already set a new date for next year. So write down on your calendar 27th of April will be the second Montana Garage Sale! All the funds from the garage sale will be used to make the view point behind Montana even nicer. So thank you for those who participated and don’t miss out on next year.
